Artist Chris Miles grew up in Utah, where he enjoys hiking, skiing, and the natural beauty the state has to offer. After graduating with a BFA from the University of Utah in 1990, he moved to New York and worked as an illustrator for magazines, book covers and children's books. In 2000 he returned to Salt Lake City and shifted his focus to fine art.

"My ideas mostly come from sitting down with my sketchbook and drawing from my imagination, which is nourished by nature, reading, and looking at the works of old master and contemporary artists. Most of my paintings have characters actively doing something. I see each painting as a captured instant, as if the viewer just happened on the scene at a very important moment - a window into another world. "
